Yato was created as a god of calamity and misfortune, but due to recent actions and sanctification from his only follower he has transcended his creation to become a god of fortune.

Quiet, resigned and reflective are how Yato is at the moment as he was walking a path to his likely demise and isn't entirely sure how he avoided that. He sticks firmly to his purpose being to serve others, as Ebisu told him, to do otherwise would be too selfish.

Yato cannot have what he wants, and he knows this.

But he can try to work within what he has. At the moment, he's focused on earning his freedom now that he's been given the courage to potentially sever his lifeline. He needs a new lifeline or he'll cease to be.

Every moment is a race against time. It's just so hard when people don't remember his name.

Imperceptibility/AmnesiaA passive ability that is more of a curse than a blessing, it is very difficult to notice Yato on any given day without any kind of connection to him. Moreover, it's very unlikely you'll remember his name without prolonged exposure to him.

Shinki Forging Yato can turn a human spirit into a shinki for his protection. Said job comes with many perks and powers to the shinki in question and many drawbacks to Yato, although the perk for him is a means of self-defense. At present in game he has none.

Divine Possession Yato can possess the body of a devout follower. It's much easier if their soul isn't in it mind you.

Teleportation Yato can teleport himself up to heaven and back, if he has a shrine and can get there. He can also teleport himself through a phone call to anyone he's speaking to.

Near Invincibility It is exceptionally difficult for humans to harm him, he'll just recover, however for game purposes they certainly can deal a mortal blow. Gods however are fair game.

Reincarnation Yato could die and reincarnate if he had a lifeline. Not applicable to Sail.

Weapons Skills Yato is proficient in any manner of cutting weapons, and others such as bows and arrows. It's part of his nature. He has taken someone down with just a twig, because no shinki is going to get the drop on him. Primarily, his weapon is a shinki, but he can use mundane weapons they just lack the tie in to his powers.

Superhuman Abilities Yato is not human and as such he is faster, stronger and sturdier than other humans would be. He can jump several stories and land on his feet unharmed.

God's Greatest Secret The secrecy surrounding his shinki's past and especially their name which must never be spoken. When forging a shinki he will see all of their memories.

Sever A skill unique to Yato, he is able to cut ties between people, their relationships, their feelings. This he sees as a last resort. He has used the skill to slice through heaven itself in the past.

Yato was born from the wish of a man who calls himself Father. He was taken in a pseudo-family setting if that family involved setting two small children on unsuspecting people to slaughter them. Paired with a girl he would call Hiiro, he spent his days killing towns and cities worth of people, bringing the ears home as a trophy to please Father. He was forbidden to speak to anyone, especially humans and no complaints would be tolerated.

Every natural instinct of his, from hearing someone beg for their life and wondering if that was a wish, to wanting a shrine and someone to pray to him was completely quashed under Father's heel.

He met a ghost of a young woman and took her as his shinki out of instinct and curiosity. Sakura was devastated when he used her to kill someone and took the time to show him what people were really like and how they worked. She showed him the beauty of the world and in retaliation, Father had Hiiro tell him to divulge God's Greatest Secret. When he did so, Sakura's soul turned into an ayakashi and he was forced to kill her and told that every person was nothing but a monster under the surface.

Every shinki since then has been named after her, his 'family name' is that they all end in -NE. For a long time Yato did as he was told and gained some small pieces of independence and at some point his rebellions led to him leaving Father behind only to be dragged back time and time again. He was desperately indebted to the man because as his lifeline, without him, Yato would cease to exist.

As he began making moves of his own, shifting to various business ventures, shinki of his were warned off of him. Yukine was stolen and Hiyori's family business attacked because the severe abuse and isolation is still ongoing centuries later.
